New to Climbing?

If you have never tried climbing before or you are new to it-no problem. Come check out the wall during our hours of operation and a staff member will walk you through a brief orientation. We will show you how to properly put on a harness, show you how to use the auto-belays and give you a brief introduction to indoor rock climbing.

Looking for the perfect after-school activity? Engage and energize your kids with one of our fun, active, and educating youth programs at the Miramont Climbing Wall!

Note: all climbers under the age of 18 must have a signed liability waiver from a parent or guardian in order to climb.

Miramont Youth Climbing Teams

Base Camp Team

The Base Camp Team is perfect for youth between the ages of 5-15 who are interested in learning more about climbing. Base Camp meets once per week and focuses on games, body movement, team-work, and climbing technique. Not only will participants work to increase their general fitness, but they will climb alongside their teammates and friends.

Approach Team

The Approach Team is ideal for youth ages 5-12 who have completed the Base Camp Team program and are looking to further develop their understanding of climbing skills and technique. Approach Team meets twice per week for an hour and a half each practice. In approach Team, kids will hone the skills and concepts introduced in Base Camp and learn about what it means to be a steward in the climbing community.

Development Team

The Development Team has been designed to equip young climbers ages 12 and under for success in competitive rock climbing. The Development Team meets twice each week and focuses on structured workouts, climbing technique, games, and overall team building. These kids will push their limits alongside their teammates to reach new goals.

Climbing Academy

Climbing Academy is a three day program geared towards youth climbers. The program teaches the fundamentals of climbing while also introducing kids to other cross-training activities such as slacklining, obstacle courses and much more. The three day program runs from 9am to 3pm with optional aftercare available until 5pm.

Girls (Ladies) Climb

Girls Climb is designed to support the female climbing community. The goal is to introduce females 16 years old & up to a previously male dominated sport in a safe, empowering and most of all, a fun and engaging environment. The program is perfect for beginners, avid climbers and every female in between. This worry-free environment is a great way to forge relationships and build a stronger community. Whether the goal is to train for El Cap or simply make it to the top of the wall, this group is a perfect opportunity to get out and climb.

Open Climb

Open Climb is a wonderful opportunity for families, beginners and those individuals new to the climbing community. After gearing up, our team will lead your climbing experience. No reservations are needed and it is perfect for all ages. Open Climb includes 5 climbs, harness rental and a Miramont Instructor to steer your climbing experience. 5 climbs will give you a taste of climbing and introduce you to the sport.

*Please limit group size to 5 or less. Groups of five or more are better suited for private group reservations.

Intro to Climbing

Intro to Climbing is a great way to become familiar with indoor rock climbing. Learn the basics of knot-tying, belay systems and climbing movement. This class is designed for people with little to no experience. Participants will learn the fundamental skills needed to climb independently at Miramont in an engaging environment. Ages 15 and older.

Ropes 101

For beginner climbers, the one hour long “Ropes 101” is an essential course and the prerequisite to the Learn to Lead Belay Course. Learn all about knot-tying, proper belaying technique, equipment use, safety, and some essential climbing techniques.

The price includes a top rope belay accreditation. Accreditation is granted upon the successful completion of a belay test (no additional charge). Participants must wait at least 24 hours before attempting accreditation.

Learn to Lead Belaying / Climbing Course

Want to extend your skills beyond top-roping? Lead climbing provides freedom, focus and fulfillment: It’s for those who want to rediscover the thrill of their first climb! A Lead accreditation test is administered following the Lead Course. Participant must wait 24 hours before attempting accreditation. Additional instruction required if accreditation test not passed after initial instruction.

For experienced climbers only.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be able to climb 5.9
  • Must be top-rope accredited
  • Ideally should have a partner

GROUP RESERVATIONS

PRIVATE GROUPS

All group activities must be reserved seven days in advance and require a $50 non-refundable deposit.
Rock climbing is a great activity for team building, school activities or for a fun outing with friends. Our staff will belay you (control the rope) while you and your group test your climbing skills on the walls. We have climbing for all skill levels. Climbing groups last two hours in duration and we provide one instructor per five to six climbers.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Looking to celebrate a birthday? Our staff would love to host your group. We will introduce the group to the facility, get everyone geared up and belay the group (control the ropes) while everyone tests their climbing skills on the walls. We have climbing for all skill levels. Birthday parties last two hours in duration; 1.5 hours on the climbing wall and a half of an hour in the café to finish the celebration. We provide one instructor per five to six climbers.

SCHOOL GROUPS

2-Hour Climbing Session

During this two hour session students will learn how to put on their own harness, how to use the auto-belays and how to climb and boulder efficiently under the supervision of our group instructors. The skills learned during these sessions can be applied should the students decide to revisit the facility.

Cost $10 / student

3-Hour Climbing Session

This three hour course is designed to teach all the elements necessary for students to be safe and fully independent in our facility. Students will learn how to correctly identify areas of the harness as well as how to correctly put it on, required knots, safety checks, communications and proper belay technique. Our trained instructors will be onsite to ensure the safety of all the participants as well as to answer any questions they may have. The skills learned in this course can be applied in any climbing facility.

Cost $25 / student
